At Karma Hands, we believe that good care starts with continual learning. That’s why our osteopath Deryn has spent the last few years building a dedicated specialism in women’s health osteopathy, gaining qualifications that let her support women through every stage of life — from pregnancy and birth through to menopause and beyond. If you’re searching for a women’s health osteopath in Nantwich, Crewe, or across Cheshire, here’s a closer look at the training behind the treatment.
A two-year diploma in women’s health
In 2024, Deryn completed a two-year Diploma in Women’s Health, studying under Caroline Stone — author of Visceral and Obstetric Osteopathy and a respected name in the osteopathic world. The course combined time in Bristol with online study, giving Deryn an in-depth understanding of women’s health conditions across the whole lifespan, from birth through to older age.
This kind of specialist grounding matters. Women’s bodies go through distinct changes at every life stage — pregnancy, postnatal recovery, perimenopause, menopause and beyond — and each brings its own set of physical demands. A two-year, in-depth diploma means Deryn isn’t relying on a single weekend course; she has built a genuinely thorough foundation in this area of osteopathy.
A distinction in Women’s Health Practitioner training
Alongside the diploma, Deryn also studied with Online Academies in 2023, achieving a distinction in her Women’s Health Practitioner Diploma. Completing two rigorous programmes in parallel shows real commitment to this specialism, and gave Deryn a broader, well-rounded understanding of women’s health from more than one professional perspective.
Evidence-based diet and nutrition advice
Osteopathy doesn’t exist in isolation from the rest of a patient’s health, which is why Deryn went on to complete her Advanced Diploma in Diet and Nutrition (Level 5) in April 2025. This qualification allows her to offer patients accurate, evidence-based diet and nutrition guidance alongside hands-on treatment — a genuinely holistic approach that looks at the whole person, not just the presenting complaint.
Ongoing professional development
Deryn’s learning doesn’t stop at formal diplomas. She regularly attends workshops to keep her knowledge current, including a Menopause 101 workshop and cadaveric (anatomy-based) educational workshops. This continual professional development means her understanding of women’s health stays sharp and current, helping her offer informed support and guidance to women navigating the different stages of life — with a genuinely varied and up-to-date wealth of knowledge behind every appointment.
What this means for you
Whether you’re newly pregnant, recovering after birth, navigating perimenopause, or simply looking for an osteopath who understands the female body at every life stage, Deryn’s training means you’re in experienced, well-informed hands. Combining specialist osteopathic training with nutrition knowledge and ongoing CPD, she’s able to look at your health from several angles rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
